Chocolate Pecan Pie

Baking & Serving Tips

Make sure to get the most enjoyable and best experience out of our pies by following the baking instructions and serving tips below. These instructions are specific to Chocolate Pecan Pie. If you would like instructions for a different pie, please check that page.

Freshly Baked

If your Chocolate Pecan Pie is already baked, please store it in the fridge. For best results, the pie should be consumed within 4 days of purchase. Before serving please remove from fridge and leave at room temperature for 45 minutes.

Frozen

If your Chocolate Pecan Pie is frozen, please store in the freezer until you are ready to bake and consume. For best results, the pie should be baked within 3 months of purchase. To bake, place pie on baking sheet (line with parchment paper to reduce mess) and place in preheated oven at 350°F. Bake a 9” for 90-120 minutes and a 5” for 50-60 minutes.

Once baked, cool the Chocolate Pecan Pie for a minimum of 1 hour before serving. The bottom of the pie tin should remain warm to the touch. If it is served too hot, the pie's consistency will be too runny.

Tips

Make sure the middle of the crumble doesn’t appear wet or jiggly.
With oven mitts on, tilt the baking sheet slightly. If the pie has a lot of juices flowing out it is not quite ready and you will have an under-baked crust. Pie juices should bubble and appear thickened and sticky when ready.
If the pie crust is getting too dark (especially the edges), lightly cover with aluminum foil to protect the crust.
Want to freeze an already baked pie? While it is not best practice, it can be done. To thaw after freezing, place frozen pie in fridge for 12 hours and then follow Freshly Baked instructions above. Do NOT refreeze.

Not too sweet but rich and delicious except the filling had leaked through the crust making it impossible to get out of the pan. So not attractive to serve to guests. I was disappointed.

From time to time over the last few years I have been lamenting the fact that there wasn’t a specialty pie place near me (South Surrey). Saw an ad for the Pie Hole and realized that it wasn’t that far from home – so I ordered two pies: a Chocolate Pecan pie, and a specialty “Birthday Cake” pie (my son likes birthday cake everything). When I picked up the pies, I especially appreciated the time they took to describe appropriate preparation and storage of each of the pies to ensure maximum enjoyment. These pies were top notch in both flavour and quality, and were devoured quickly. We will definitely be back soon, and I have no hesitation recommending the Pie Hole in Langley.

Who doesn’t love a butter tart PIE loaded with pecans and chocolate throughout? You may think you missed the chocolate but it’s in there counter-balancing the buttery sweet filling surrounding each pecan crevice. And the chocolate drizzle leaves you wanting more… good thing there are choices! Classic butter pecan or Chocolate butter pecan - my vote is for the latter :)

The best pecan pie I've had, the filling is well balanced with a sweet chocolate filling and a good amount of pecans, and the crust is perfect like all other Pie Hole pies. The only negative side was the crust stuck to the pie tray when baking which made it difficult to cut or remove from the pie tray in one piece.

Excellent!! #1 is a good spot to be! Pecan filling is notoriously sticky, so your observations make sense. Still, it shouldn't be sticking to the tin THAT much. We'll watch for that going forward. Thanks Matt.

All pies ordered online are ready after 1:00pm on your selected date (chosen during checkout).

Using online shopping you can order pies in 9-inch, 5-inch, 3-inch (9-pack), hand pie (5-pack), or mini hand pies (12-pack).

To order this product online, select a size followed by selecting options (like the ‘Top’ or ‘Frozen’, if applicable) and then click on “Add to Cart”. As you go through the checkout process, you will be able to specify a date for pick up. At least 36 hours notice is required from the time you place your order (the system will not let you select a date earlier than that). Your order will be freshly made and ready for you on the date specified!

Or come visit us at one of our locations for a freshly baked slice, infringement tart, or savoury hand pie to enjoy right there or packaged up to go. We also keep rotating stock on hand (first come, first served basis) of the 9-inch and 5-inch pies for those looking to take out.

We take great pride in making each pie from scratch, by hand, and from locally sourced ingredients of the finest quality. Should you be unhappy with your pie, please return it to the shop you purchased it from and a credit will be applied upon the discretion of the Manager.
